Typography
As part of a 1st year undergraduate Communication Design course, specifically for a Typography class, we were asked to create a type specimen for a font of our choice. Upon research, I chose the font "Etna" by Mark Simonson for its rich history and elegant design. Etna came about as a digital recreation of the ninteenth-century fat face roman "Aetna"; as such, I drew heavy inspiration from this era, specifically from the "American Frontier" as a driving aesthetic for the project. I attempted to pull from references known to me, particularly for the content in the booklet itself — from movies, video games, books, and other media. In terms of layout, I went for a simple approach, given the era I was drawing inspiration from; I did not feel that complex or unconventional layouts would be appropriate for the concept I was trying to materialize.

This is the final, handed in product. I am looking for feedback on page layout and use of colors.

Great work! I forget sometimes the amount of history behind fonts. I would maybe make the colors a little more earthy. They are giving more retro and less cowboy to me. The layout I like but some of the kerning is a little too tight to read. maybe remove some of the filler text to give it more space to breathe and read better?
